Lijiang Draws Attention at Venice Film Festival

The city of Lijiang in Yunnan province was screened at a promotional conference for the world's most beautiful shooting locations, part of the "Focus on China" event at the 74th Venice International Film Festival on Sept 2.

Four other locations in China, including Hubei's Zigui county, Jiangxi's Wuyuan county, and Gansu's Zhangye city, were also represented at the screening, presenting beautiful local sceneries and unique cultures.

The event aims to build cooperation between China's beautiful resorts and international film and television producers.

Renowned Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta, Roberto Stabile, head of the International Department of the Italian Film Producers Association ANICA, and Andrew Canapa, director of Fondazione Italia Cina, attended the conference.

Jiang Yong, head of the publicity department of Lijiang, as a Yunnan representative at the event, introduced guests to Lijiang's scenery and invited international movie producers to shoot in Lijiang.

Maria Grazia Cucinotta said that China has vast territory and is rich in resources. There are many shooting locations in China for movies and she hopes to shoot in China for her new film.

Lijiang has long attracted domestic film companies and renowned film directors, such as Zhang Yimou, to shoot the city's beautiful natural landscapes and rich historical culture. Famous films and TV dramas, including Riding Alone for Thousands of Miles, One Meter Sunlight and Legend of Mu Fu Mansion, were all shot in Lijiang.

Founded in 1932, the Venice International Film Festival is the world's oldest film festival. The 74th Venice International Film Festival is already underway in Venice, Italy, and is scheduled from Aug 30 to Sept 9 this year.
