Yunnan Pu er Tea Festival News Conference Held in Kunming
A news conference for the 14th Pu'er Tea Festival was held in Kunming in Southwest China's Yunnan province on May 12.
During the news conference, a briefing was given detailing the progress of the preparation work for the tea festival. Aside from the media briefings, a new documentary depicting Pu'er city entitled "A Gift from Heaven" was premiered, as well as a new song called "Miss that Place".
The 14th Pu'er Tea Festival is sponsored by a number of research institutions including the China Academy of Culture and will open in Pu'er from May 23-25. The festival is expected to increase the publicity of the Pu'er tea culture and promote communication within the tea industry.
According to the news conference, the theme of this year's tea festival is based on inheriting and protecting cultural heritage. During the festival, activities such as the Second Tea Culture Peak Forum, a Pu'er tea processing competition and investment attraction, will be held. A tea worshiping ceremony will also be held to present the local Pu'er tea culture.
The Second Tea Culture Peak Forum was initiated by Xu Jialu, director of the China Academy of Culture. More than 20 team experts will have an in-depth discussion about Chinese tea culture.
According to the festival's sponsor, work involving the invitation of guests and publicizing the event are well under way.
