Pu er Simao District Forges Green Tourism Industry
Simao district in Pu'er, Yunnan province, has decided to emphasize more focus on constructing its green tourism industry, according to the city's newspaper, Pu'er Daily.
According to the Pu'er local government, the construction of the city’s green tourism projects - including the Pu'er National Park, Tea Horse Ancient Town and Ecological Leisure Park - has progressed smoothly.
Simao district has also decided to promote the integration of its tourism industry and health service industry by launching healthy meal products and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) meals.
Ecological leisure tourism projects will be undertaken by taking advantage of the city's plateau agriculture development.
Simao district will also take advantage of the city's coffee and tea resources to develop a series of tourism products related to the tea and coffee culture.
Pu'er also has a vibrant ethnic culture which allows room for its cultural industry to expand. Wood carvings, ethnic dances, ethnic customs and ethnic handicrafts from Pu'er are unique. Simao district plans to make use of the city's ethnic cultural resources to construct a Pu'er Artist Creation Site and Exhibition Center for Tourism Souvenirs.
