Pu'er Shines Bright Like a Diamond in Yunnan Plateau
Pu'er is located in Southwest China's Yunnan province and shares its border with Myanmar to the west and Laos and Vietnam to the south. It is famous for its green economy and vivid ethnic culture.
Pu’er is known as a green city and it was honored with the title of "National Environmental Sanitation City" for the period of 2012-2014. The average temperature of the city is 18.90 C. Statistics show that the city's green industry - industries largely free from pollution, such as the tea industry - accounts for more than 90 percent of the city's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The city is also rich in biodiversity and has a forest coverage exceeding 68.70 percent; the green coverage rate of the city center exceeds 80 percent. A total of 16 nature protection areas are located in outlying areas of the city.
The city also boasts a vivid ethnic culture. Statistics show that the city is inhabited with 26 ethnic groups and the population of ethnic group in the city is 61 percent of the overall population. There're nine ethnic counties in the city's jurisdiction. Lancang county is China's only Lagu ethnic county, while Mojiang county is China's only Hani ethnic county.
