Yunnan Kunming starts up Volunteer Work for the 3rd CSAE
Volunteer work kicked off in the city of Kunming, Yunnan province, with a bike ride on May 24, as part of the 3rd China-South Asia Expo. The ride was expected to show off the volunteers' spirit and style. The volunteers were recruited through WeChat and other new media.
More than 400 volunteers were divided into six teams and started the ride from different locations. They rode through the city's urban areas and took rest at rest spots along the way. Brochures were delivered to residents during the ride to promote the China-South Asia Expo.
After riding more than ten kilometers, the volunteers gathered at the square in front of the Ethnic Village – a scenic spot where people can experience culture of different ethnic groups.
The start-up ceremony commenced with volunteer representatives reading the proposal for the volunteer work, after which volunteer uniforms were showed to the public, together with the volunteer song, White Cloud.
The China-South Asia Exposition features a comprehensive international exposition approved by the State Council of China. It is expected to boost the mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the South Asian countries. It was upgraded from the Commodities Exhibition of the South Asian Countries to the current China-South Asia Expo in 2012. It has been held in Kunming annually since 2013. This year's expo will be held on June 12 to 16.
