Yunnan Black Tea Promotion Conference Held in Beijing
The 2015 Beijing International Tea Expo was held at the Beijing Exhibition Center from June 19-22. Representatives from more than 300 foreign tea enterprises and tea merchants joined the exhibition.
A special promotion for Yunnan black tea produced in Yunnan's Fengqing county, was held during the expo, attracting the attention of visitors.
Wang Tianquan, president of Yunnan Dianhong Group, said that Fengqing county is the origin of Yunnan black tea. Wang also expressed his hope that more people could get familiar with Fengqing black tea and have a chance to experience the tea gardens in the county.
Fengqing is the known as the home town of Yunnan black tea and is home to what is thought to be the world's oldest tea tree at 3,200 years old. Black tea produced in Fengqing was given to Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and the president of Sri Lanka.
There is currently an area of around 20,000 hectares of tea growing in Fengqing, which has an annual output of 32,000 tons. Tea products from Fengqing include different types of tea, such as black, green and Pu’er.
