- Seven major parks in Kunming received more than 220,000 visitors during the three-day New Year holiday from Jan 1 to 3. Park workers arranged original activities to attract visitors during the period.
- Kunming launched 10 municipal level cultural creativity parks on Dec 29. Jin Youhe, director of the publicity department of the Party’s Kunming Municipal Committee, noted that industrial parks combine culture with tourism, technology, manufacturing and services.
- Winter cherry trees on Anningba Street in Kunming, Yunnan province have blossomed. At 180-meters long, Anningba Street is lined with 130 winter cherry trees. The trees began blooming in November and will continue throughout January – the best time to see them.

- China, Thailand to collaborate on major train project to boost regional development. Chiang Rak Noi Station, about 50 kilometers north of Bangkok, was filled with the sound of music on Saturday, as Thai and Chinese dancers performed to mark the launch of an ambitious railway project.
- Beanstalk International Bilingual School opened a branch campus in Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan, on Dec 18. The campus is located in the city's Chenggong district and will begin giving lessons on March 1, 2016.
- Chief taster at Yunnan factory uses his tastebuds to determine quality, price of beans. Every weekday morning, 60-year-old Zu Zhide roasts raw coffee beans, grinds them, sniffs, brews and then slurps, loudly.
- A photographic exhibition featuring the human geography of South and Southeast Asia opened in Kunming, Yunnan province, on Dec 2. It will close on Dec 20.
- KUNMING - China's first Myanmar-language newspaper has been launched in southwest China's Yunnan Province to serve the Myanmar people working in China.
- Germany's Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin will be giving a New Year's concert on Dec 30 in the city of Kunming, Yunnan province and a large number of low-priced tickets will be available for the people of Kunming to promote this orchestral performance.
